Our strategy:
SELF-RELIANCE
By investing in income-generating projects, we create a structural local income of their own for disadvantaged people. We do this in the following ways:
- Vocational education that leads to work and income
- Land acquisition for the unemployed for food security and school fees for their children
- Fundraising in Uganda
EDUCATION
Education is a key to change: 30% of children never go to school. Over 4.2 million young people do nothing: due to a lack of education. Stop Poverty contributes by:
- The Green Donkey Kindergarten gives preschoolers who only speak the local language a head start in English, the language of instruction.
- The vocational training programs give disadvantaged teenage mothers and young people an opportunity to secure a place in the labour market.
- Capacity building for local primary schools with teaching materials, mandatory tuition fees, and food provision for lunch.
HEALTH CARE
Stop Poverty provides medical care in different places in the countryside of East-Uganda. A staggering 200.000 children die every year due to a lack of medical care and malnutrition.
- Our medical clinic provides medical services like : general medicines, antenatal and child health care, Emercency Unit, Laboratory services etc.
- In the Kayunga district: Maternity clinic, Child Healthcare and general medical services.
- Stop Poverty was awarded by the Prime Ministers Office for Health services during the Covid-19 pandemic in Uganda.
WORK AND INCOME
Work and income is a key priority of the Stop Poverty policy. The motto is: we don’t give fish, but teach people how to catch their own fish. We aim to achieve this by:
- Investing in vocational training that leads to work and income.
- Teaching and developing skills such as financial literacy, home economics, making one’s own products to sell, such as soap, shampoo, growing vegetables, etc.
- A winner’s mentality: we can do it!
